and right now they're only $23 with free shipping!!!

About that up-chucking: for some reason I have a really hard time with my gag reflex so after shoving my toothbrush down my throat to no avail, Dan - out of pure love and selflessness - shoves his finger in my throat to help me throw up and it succeeded! Oh, but it meant that I had to throw up all over his hand, into the toilet... and he did this for me two or three more times!
Seriously, that man, he is my number one Valentine and my best friend ever.
Oh! I also forgot to mention that last week, Dan and I tried to adopt two Yorkie-Pekingese mixes - a brother and a sister - Fred and Ginger (we called her Ginny) but when they came to us, they were much much bigger than we expected and it was just too much for our tiny space, which turned out to be a real bummer, but also has shown Dan and I if we're as ready as we think we are for pups! Which, turns out, we basically are except not as much for two as we are as one. Anyway, they stayed the night and stayed until I came home from work the following day and then I worked it out so they could get picked up that evening. Hoping and praying those two cuties will find a happy and healthy home!
How was your weekend?
PS. Never eating gluten again, ever. I stated with Dan and God as my witnesses that I vow to never ingest gluten on purpose ever again, as long as I live. Girl scout cookies? Sorry, need to make my own so I can guarantee they'll be gluten-free. Pasta? Meh, I don't need those carbs anyway. DONUTS?! Well, I'll miss you, but getting my stomach pumped every time I want to taste you is just. not. worth. it.

Blehh that sounds awful. Sorry you had such a rough day! :(
ReplyDeleteI am gluten intolerant and sometimes make the dumb decision of knowingly eating it but boy do I pay for it!
ReplyDeleteThat is so crazy! It hurts my heart Cara that you have to go through that. I know it takes courage, which I admire. And that's an amazing man you got. Praying for you!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's true love right there! Sorry you had such a rough time, gluten allergies are nasty! I once heard of a woman who had stroke like symptoms for years before she found out she was allergic to gluten. Sorry you had to bring the puppies back. Sad day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty strap! But oh now about the gluten. Sorry that attack did not sound very fun. :( Yikes! Hope your day today is much better.

Ahhh getting glutened is the worst. That happened to me at pf changs once, in which they messed up my order. 5 minutes later and I almost threw up at the table. It is the worst feeling ! Hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHi Cara :) I grimaced with sympathy as I have celiac and have HATED when I have gotten gluten into me. The pain is EXTREME! SO sorry to hear of your rough night! I know that I have wanted to just cut my stomach out sometimes during a bad attack! :(
ReplyDeleteIf you are interested in a yummy gluten free product I wrote about one that I LOVE on my blog last week (http://www.caravansonnet.com/2013/02/breads-from-anna-review-giveaway.html) that you might want to try. In a world lacking yummy gluten free things (*smiles*) this one is good! :)
Hope you are feeling better!

Sounds like how I spent the weekend before this past one- with *horrendous* digestive issues because I ate something greasy and carby and starchy and I really know better than that. Food issues = the worst. I hope you start feeling better soon, as it sounds like you've been pretty sick for a while...
ReplyDeleteThis past weekend? You ask how it was? See my recent blog post. Um, hello there, Presidents' Day Sales....
. . .are you supposed to make yourself throw up when having gluten problems? Isn't that bad for you to force yourself to throw up under any circumstance? I'm confused. That sounds so scary to try to make yourself throw up, while extremely loving of your husband to help you do it so you can feel better. I can understand you not wanting your stomach pumped though. wow. I don't know much about gluten issues at all!! Two of my best friends have to have only gluten stuff, as does one of my cousins, but I still don't know much about it at all.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about not getting the dogs. I wish I could have dogs where I live. I have a dog but for the past 4.5 years she's lived with my parents because we aren't allowed any here where we've been since that time. I am thinking about asking my landlord if we can have cats (since he doesn't like dog poop in his yard even if I pick it up and he doesn't like barking)...my boys are allergic but they are okay with medicine. They want one badly. I miss dogs though. I'd have 5 dogs if possible.
BAD gluten!!!!
Don't name your future dog "Gluten" haha.

i'm so sorry that happened. one of my old friends was severely intolerant to gluten, nuts, dairy, soy, and some other things that i can't remember. and i always remember how hard it was for them to eat anything. praying for you, friend! and seriously your husband rocks. that was so nice of him to help you like that.
ReplyDeleteI love your new camera strap! I haven't changed mine, it's the old boring factory strap but now I kinda want one :).
ReplyDeleteThat gluten attack sounds terrible! I try and stay gluten free, but when I do have it my stomach hurts so bad right after. I can say that my allergy isn't as intense as yours but I know how you feel!
I adopted two chihuahuas and they're the best little things in my life (plus they're only 3 pounds). I didn't adopt them at the same time though so I can see why that was a little overwhelming!
I hope you have a great week Cara!
