Valentine's Day Planning

Life lately has been... full of learning and striving to be better at work: to know more, do more, be more willing, and ask more questions. Life's been full of so much best friend time with Dan, whether that's spent snuggling all night once he gets home from work, driving to the ER as soon as I get off work so he doesn't have to be there without me (this was just one night), or playing Sequence at Bogart's! We've been having so much fun together lately, and it makes me so excited for what God is going to teach us in this new year, and how our relationship is going to grow now that it's almost *two years!* that we've been together. Can you believe it?! I've never ever been with one person that long... the longest relationship I've been in was fifteen months and boy oh boy I'm so glad I passed that checkpoint a while ago with Danny.

So that brings me to Valentine's Day: V-Day is my all-time favorite holiday (it irks me to no end all the singles who go on about it being a "Hallmark holiday" and calling it "Singles Awareness Day" because hey, it's not. Be selfless enough to realize that people who are in love truly enjoy the holiday, and even when I was single, I still loved dressing in pink and red and hanging out Valentines to my friends) and this is mine and Dan's first one as a real married couple! So I want lots of red hearts and a pretty outfit and gorgeous decorations and yummy treats all for him to feel spoiled by his Valentine. So here's what I'm thinking: (I won't put his gifts on the blog because he's unpredictable with when he reads it.) But here are some sweet treats and some fun outfit ideas that my Valentine's Day outfit will be inspired by!

I'm also thinking of picking up some pretzels, melting white chocolate, and sprinkling
adorable hearts and colored sugar sprinkles all over them!
What recipes are you trying out this V-Day?

An amazing tulle skirt would be a dream come true

So there you have just a few of my ideas, but I'm also hoping to wrap his gifts all lovey dovey and
send some surprise love notes with him throughout the day!
Oh, and get or make him a valentine that speaks my heart completely.

  1. I am single, but that's not why I'm not too fond of Valentine's Day. It wouldn't even be my favorite if I was in relationship because the majority of everyone uses the holiday to finally do something sweet or romantic for their lover when in my opinion it should be year around. VD is so expected & forced. I love all things spontaneous + "just because" gifts are sweet. Plus, pink is so not my color. Lol.

It is a sweet holiday for fun, baking & games though. I personally like to use it as an excuse to stuff my face with chocolate & watch sappy chick flicks, haha.

By the way, that tulle skirt is to die for! Have a great weekend :)

  3. girl, i have MAD love for valentine's day too. it's been my favorite holiday for as long as i can remember…my mom always made it really special for me & her (i had 5 brothers, so we kind of made it our sacred day).

i also love what you said: be more willing & asking more questions. it's so simple, but i really think i need to write that one down. that's something i've been having to very actively remind myself in my relationships -- romantic, with myself, with friends, and most importantly, with God. how transformative could asking those simple questions be? incredibly, i think.

p.s. i saw your comment about wanting my top reads of 2012! i'm going to work on that for you! shoot me an email though, to remind me: bridgetfossedal@gmail.com. i'd get on and email YOU right now…but for whatever reason, i can never be on my blogs or email at the same time. it is le pits.

  4. i'm not one of those singles who go on about it being s.a.d...but i can definitely understand why it'd be a hard day for someone who is single and who would love to be married/in some kind of relationship. i have a lot of friends who struggle with that. same way i struggle with mother's day.
not saying, "don't love valentine's day", just "remember that a lot of grouchy people are just hurting and don't know what to do with it." :)

  16. I'm so excited about Valentine's Day this year as well! I wasn't very creative last year, so this year I got a pair of Nectar sunglasses [I ended up ordering us the exact same color with different shade tints...oops!! They looked different online! haha.], along with a Datevitation book and the last coupon is for a couple's massage. We've talked about it here and there before, but never actually got one together, so I hope he'll be really excited about it! :)

  17. Oh, man, I am so sad that tulle skirt is no longer for sale- IT IS SO CUTE!

I will be celebrating part of Valentine's Day by participating in "One Billion Rising" which is a global event created to rise up against violence against women.

I don't think Rob and I have plans- probably dinner? We usually exchange some nerdy gifts. Those cookies look tempting...I'm leaning towards making a valentine cookie with raspberry filling for my sweetheart :)

    Have a great Valentine's day-

  18. I've had my eye on that anthro tulle skirt for quite some time and one of my friends told me only 8 year old wannabe ballerinas wore tulle in the real world. She just doesn't understand.
